Goldfield
Hotel Investigation
Goldfield, Nevada
Dead Famous: Recently
we did a shoot with the cast (Chris Fleming and Gail Porter) and
crew of "Dead Famous" at the Historically Haunted Goldfield
Hotel in Goldfield, Nevada. What a super bunch of guys and gals.
We are hearing it will air sometime in February, 2006. (Hopefully
we won't end up on the cutting room floor). See photos from the
shoot below! |
| This haunted hotel is located halfway
between Las Vegas and Reno, Nevada. The Goldfield Hotel opened in
1908 when Goldfield was a thriving town because of the gold ore
find, there in 1902. When the hotel opened, it was considered the
most luxurious hotel between Chicago and San Francisco, boasting
154 rooms with telephones, imported chefs from Europe and the first
Otis elevator west of the Mississippi. But, as the gold ore finds
diminished so did the towns population, and by the 1930s the once
bustling town housed less than 1,000 people. The hotel closed it's
doors in 1945 and has been shut down ever since.
The owner George Wingfield was a multimillionaire by the age of
30 and became a very influential political figure in the state of
Nevada. In other words he was a man with much clout and one who,
if this story is true would probably have been able to get away
with this without too much trouble.
The Goldfield hotel is said to be haunted by more than one spirit
but the most notable is a prostitute named Elizabeth. The way the
story goes is that the hotel owner George Wingfield took a severe
liking to Elizabeth, and was furious when he found out that she
was carrying another mans unborn child. So furious in fact that
he chained Elizabeth to the radiator inside of room 109. There she
stayed supplied with nothing more than food and water until she
gave birth, at which time it is said that George took the baby and
threw the it down an abandoned mine shaft. The same mine shaft that
the hotel is said to be built on. After the birth of the child,
Elizabeth vanished, never to be seen or heard from again. To this
day it is said that room 109 is still haunted by Elizabeth.
The hotel is also believed to be built on a Vortex.
Our investigation of The Goldfield Hotel would not have happened
had it not been for our good friend Ghost Hunter, Author and Historian
Janice Oberding's invitation. (www.hauntednevada.com)
Boy that's a mouthful!! We did the investigation along with the
cast and crew of the TV show "Dead Famous" who were filming
an episode there. A few of the more interesting things that we encountered
there was an undeniable scent of Lilac in the 2nd floor hallway.
When we mentioned this we were told about a female spirit that wanders
that hallway wearing lilac perfume. Another was the sound of footsteps
coming from behind us when we were the only ones on the entire floor.
We recorded some excellent evp and have some astonishing video footage
from room 109. When you look at the video from Elizabeth's room,
pay close attention to the wall on the left. As the spirit energy
is exiting the wall, it actually causes the wall to change form.
Maybe the more likely explanation would be that it was the spirit
who changed form, from a more solid form of energy to a less solid
one, an orb. Or, Could this be a portal opening? Whatever it is
that we captured on video is certainly something that we have never
seen before. We also captured some orb footage in the Vortex room. |
